Activity Agreement

Is It For Me?

The Activity Agreement is aimed specifically at 16 – 17 year olds who are receiving Job Seekers’ Allowance; who are faced with challenging circumstances; or who have not been studying, working or training for some time.

That sounds like me – how do I qualify?

If you become entitled to receive Job Seekers’ Allowance you can be referred to us by your Jobcentre Plus Advisor and/or Connexions Personal Advisor as soon as your entitlement starts.

If you are faced with challenging circumstances and believe you fit one of the descriptions in the box below, you can be referred to us by a Connexions Personal Advisor (or similar professional person) - providing they have been actively supporting you for at least the last 5 weeks:

A Pregnant Young Woman
A Person In Care or Care Leaver
A Person with Mental Health Issues
A Parent
or Carer
A Refugee
A Person being supervised by YOT
A Gypsy, Roma or Traveller by YOT
A Substance Mis-user
A Person with learning difficulties/ disabilities
A Homeless Person
A Person with family issues
A Person with other vulnerabilities
If you have not been in education, employment or training for at least 26 weeks you can be referred to us by a Connexions Personal Advisor (or similar professional person) - providing they have been actively supporting you for at least the last 5 weeks. You may still be able to sign up even if you were briefly working or studying during your 26 weeks – check with us for details.

OK, but can I earn the £30 a week as well as get Job Seekers’ Allowance or Benefit money?

As a rule, no. You can only receive one or the other. But it is worth talking to us about your circumstances as there are different ways in which you might be eligible for the Activity Agreement, and the £30 a week is not the only financial benefit on offer.
Also, if you are receiving Disability Living Allowance, getting Income Support as a Lone Parent, or State financial help as a Care Leaver, there is a special exemption for you – sign up and you can still earn the £30 a week on top of your other money.
