Carl Hopkins and Howard Naylor with the successful young people

The ‘Create Your Own Future’ event took place at the Victoria Youth Centre on Aire Street in Brighouse yesterday to celebrate the achievements of young people from Calderdale who had recently completed an Activity Agreement.

Richard Black, Sharon Black, Sarah Farrar, Ance Mohammed, and Karina Webster were all awarded certificates for successfully completing their Activity Agreements which included a 10 week personal development programme designed to develop team building skills, boost self esteem, confidence and improve communication skills, a CV writing and interview techniques workshop and a literacy and numeracy course.

The certificates were awarded by ‘Secret Millionaire’ Carl Hopkins. Carl was very impressed, “there was nothing like the Activity Agreement available when I was young. It’s a fantastic opportunity for young people to acquire the skills and training they need to help them in their future careers. “

Howard Naylor, Senior Keyworker for the Calderdale Activity Agreement team was delighted with the success of the event in Brighouse and intends to repeat it across other areas of Calderdale. He says “many young people have already taken advantage of the Activity Agreement. We want young people in Calderdale to realise their potential and sign up to the Activity Agreement.”
