Activity Agreement

Case studies

Take a look at how the Activity Agreement has already helped other young people take a major step forward for their futures.

Positive steps forward
Mudasser first heard about the Activity Agreement through a friend who had already signed up. A chance meeting with Sham, a Bradford Keyworker lead him to arrange a meeting to find out more about the Activity Agreement and what it could offer him.

Mudasser had low self esteem due to being bullied at school, so Sham’s first step was to build a relationship of rapport and trust between them. A series of meetings followed in Connexions Centres and Youth Centres to gain an understanding of Mudasser’s interests and aspirations and to discuss the best way forward.

The first activity Mudasser participated in was an 8 week confidence building course at DXU. His friend also attended the course along with Gary, a Bradford Keyworker, so Mudasser was surrounded by familiar faces in a safe environment. The course consisted of interactive games to build confidence, self esteem and assertiveness.

After completing the course, Mudasser took a 6 week break from the Activity Agreement to reassess his situation. When he returned he was more focused on an academic slant to his activities and chose courses in English, Maths, I.T, Life Skills and Travel (Green Cross Code).

Mudasser has steadily increased his skills and is now attending college on a “Skills for Life “ course. He receives consistently good feedback from the college and was very proud to be recently nominated for a Bradford Citizen Award.

Bradford Keyworker Sham is really pleased with his progress. Sham says “The Activity Agreement is a great opportunity for young people to improve their skills at their own pace. Mudasser is a great example of how the Activity Agreement can really help you make positive steps for your future.”
