Confidence Building Leads to College Michael already had a career in mind when he joined the Activity Agreement. He knew that he wanted to follow in his sister’s footsteps and enter the Hospitality and Catering Industry but was unsure of how to go about it. He had applied for a number of jobs but had always been unsuccessful which had knocked his confidence.
Together with his Keyworker, Michael devised a programme of activities to boost his confidence and to help him gain the necessary skills in preparation for his chosen career.
One of the activities Michael participated in was a team building and self development programme which provides young people with the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities including: kayaking, raft building, rock climbing, sailing, problem solving and scrambling. The activities are designed to develop self esteem, confidence, team building skills and most importantly to be enjoyable.
Michael’s confidence and skill levels have greatly increased through his time on the Activity Agreement. He is currently attending courses in literacy and numeracy and has successfully achieved a college course in September.
Michael says “The Activity Agreement has really changed things for me. Without it I would be nowhere now. Instead I am about to start college and am on my way to achieving my ambition. “
