Health & Beauty and Hair Dressing Training

Hair Dressing
Young people can learn a variety of skills and techniques for beauty treatments, including; nails, skin care, facials, waxing, eyebrow shaping, massage, make up. They can learn the art of putting hair up, decorating hair, plaiting and dying hair. Beauty is accredited through the Open College Network so young people can achieve NVQ Level 1 and move into FE courses.

Creative Design
Involves young people in making and creating their own arts and crafts work such as card making, candle making, mosaics and glass painting. They can also experiment with different materials such as acrylic paint, pastels and oil paints. This course is accredited through the Open College Network at Level 1 (Youth Train).

Job Searching
Young people are provided with information and support on how to look for work, covering interview techniques, job search, application forms, CV and letter writing.

1 day courses

Course Work
We have delivered a variety of 1 day courses which enable young people to develop the right skills to move into further training, education or employment as well as using these skills in their day to day lives. Courses can include First Aid, Health & Safety at Work, Fire Marshall, Manual Handling training and Introduction to Child care.

Fork Lift Truck Training
We have planned and delivered a number of fork lift truck training programmes through which young people have accessed the Ped Hop course and other further training offered in this field.

Many of the young people who have completed the fork lift truck training have moved into full time employment.

BUILD (Construction Skills)

Joinery
Young people have the opportunity to access a construction taster course, through which they can acquire skills in a range of construction trades, learn about the demands of working within the construction industry and achieve a Basic Health and Safety Qualification.

They also learn aspects of brickwork and construction such as cement pointing, brick and stone laying, tiling and plastering which has enabled young people to move in to apprenticeships.
